Pt9 KNOWING AND USING WHAT GOD HAS SAID/YOUR BIBLE

"Ave Christus, morituri te salutamus! "

    Due to Adam's lack of leadership, due to him not fulfilling his role as the spiritual leader, due to Adam not providing the covering and being the protector as was his God ordained role - Eve chooses to sin.  Note the word chooses, Eve had a choice, she was not forced to sin simply because Adam did not do his job.  Inevitably we are all responsible for our own relationship with God and inevitably we are all responsible for our own knowledge, understanding and use of His word.  Scripture plainly states God wants us to study, know, understand and use His word in our own lives;
"You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.  You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.  You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates," (Deuteronomy 11:18-20/NASB)

"Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so." (Acts 17:11/NASB)

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15/NASB)

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15/NKJV)
See also - Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-2, & Proverbs 2:1-6
    However simply studying or even knowing the scripture does not necessarily mean someone will understand/interpret and/or use them properly.  This is seen when Christ is tempted in the wilderness;
"...and said to Him, 'If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,  "HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU"; and "ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE." ' " (Matthew 4:6/NASB)
See also Luke 4:10-11

    It is also seen when Christ addresses the Jewish leaders in John chapter 5
"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. I do not receive glory from men; but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves." (John 5:39 -42/NASB)
See also 1Peter2:6-8
    In the first example Satan is clearly not "accurately handling the word of truth" and in the second the religious leaders choose not to "rightly divide (interpret) the word of truth" for selfish reasons.  So God gives us four things to keep us from error when we read, study/learn and interpret His word;
  1. His Word
  2. His Spirit
  3. Prayer
  4. Other believers
